The Macallan Estate 2019

The Macallan "Estate" is a fabulously limited bottling. The thinking behind this beautifully packaged bottle is that everything is " Local" to The Easter Elchies Estate.  The 485 acres of Laureate barley are harvested and provide about seven to 10 days of whisky production per year. The local barley grown beside The River Spey provides that unique local quality.  The beautifully embossed slide out packaging  is further enhanced by a  piece of local slate, quarried nearby & embossed in gold lettering.
The bottle, 700ml 43% abv has a blue ribbon around the body and has a blue wax seal to add to the overall quality. As a further reminder of  the local-ness of the bottle, the slide out reveals a picture of the barley fields on the estate. 
Overall the quality of the packaging and the bottle itself are a stuning combination.
Secured by DGSM on the morning of 21 May 2022, the few bottles available were sold out before lunch time that day. 
Tasting notes... Nose ...wood spice & dried fruits with sweet lemon, banana &
                                           caramel.
                              Palate... soft & warming with wood spice, candied raisin & fig
                                          with delicate fresh citrus.
                               Finish .. sweet with a citrus twist. 
 
Now we have to say we're not sure if this is a drinker or a keeper, probably a drinker on a special occasion.
